How can reflexology help me?
Reflexology is a calming and de-stressing treatment that can be used to treat a wide number of conditions. The gentle approach used by your therapist stimulates your body to self heal and restore normal internal balance.
Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, but has beneficial effects in combatting:
- Low Back Ache
- Fertility issues
- Wear and Tear
- Hormonal conditions
- Digestive conditions
- Stress and Anxiety
WHAT HAPPENS DURING REFLEXOLOGY?
A brief consultation with your therapist will ascertain any specific health needs you have and enable you to ask specific questions in relation to reflexology.
The reflexologist will then stimulate your feet by applying direct pressure to the soles of your feet in a relaxing and calming manner.
A treatment session usually lasts for about one hour. A course of treatment may be recommended depending on your body’s needs.
Are there any side effects to reflexology?
After your reflexology session you may notice a sense of relaxation and well being. Some patients report an initial feeling of tiredness that is quickly relieved by a great nights sleep. It is important that you update your therapist with your response to treatment as this feedback is greatly beneficial.
Who can benefit from reflexology?
Reflexology is suitable for almost everyone. Its gentle approach to healing makes it a viable treatment for the young and elderly alike. A course of treatment is beneficial for acute and chronic conditions, and many of our patients return for regular ‘top-up’ or maintenance appointments.
With stress one of the most common and debilitating conditions affecting the population today, it is important that we take control of our own health. Reflexology fights against the damaging effects of stress and the many conditions that often follow exposure to high levels of anxiety.
What Happens At A Consultation?
After meeting your therapist you will be taken through a detailed consultation about your presenting complaint, recent and past medical history and general lifestyle questions. A physical examination of the face, tongue, hair, eyes etc is often useful to indicate your overall wellbeing.
Your therapist will then develop a treatment program tailored to your specific condition and will go through this with you. The first consultation is often a little longer than any follow up appointments that you may require. Expect your initial treatment to be approx 90 minutes, with follow up appointments around 60 mins.
